Intertextual reference relations to music videos are when artist or band has link to other music video or TV programs, intertextual reference in music videos can  boost the artist’s  and single  as publicity  and in interest in the music video would increase when  relevant  intertextual references are made.

Intertextual reference George Michael ‘shoot that dog ‘

This music video clearly make intertextual reference of political views and portraying ideals and his viewpoints such as George Michael’s lifestyle. 

 

An example of an intertextual references Lady gaga ‘paparazzi’

The music video in which at the beginning film credits are shown which the characters acting in the music video references to a film. And also the newspaper headlines and articles intertextually refer to her own lifestyle on the newspaper.  

  

 

 

Taylor swift love story

Within this video there’s a lot of intertextual references such as women dressed in big dresses and their hairs are massive. The all mise scene help make a references to the whole Romeo and Juliet love story when Taylor looking down this shows that the whole plot is about Romeo and Juliet.

 

 

 

Advantages of Intertextual :

 The Intertextual reference  could appeal to the audience as it gives them an insight into the artist's view and what they enjoy, as this would be interest  for the audience because idolise the particular artist or band. The could  find it interesting or comical which can be beneficial for the audience. Intertextual could also be used because its new idea. 

 

Disadvantage  of Intertextual:

There are negative view of Intersexuality. There is issue of the Intertextual reference used to legal the artist / it could also considered as offensive to some viewers it could portray people in a negative ways.  

 

Conclusion:

I would use  Intertextual reference to my own music video. I could easily express my idea about something of mine and my groups choice. it is an  idea that I would like to explore and consider using depending on the artist of song that I use.  if I'm was going to use Intertextual references in my video I would make it relevant to my music video and the choice of genre that best fit the Intertextual references.
